Manager Research

JCS is completely focused on providing highly individualized service to a select client list. The firm specializes in developing investment strategy and monitoring managers.

JCS identifies potential investment managers through a process of interviews that begins with on-site meetings with the key investment professionals. This initial interview, plus an analysis of the firm’s performance and portfolio holdings, determines whether or not JCS will continue its due-diligence process. If the manager is considered suitable for client portfolios, JCS carefully evaluates the firm’s results versus custom peer groups, risk and return measures and performance characteristics over many time periods. If performance confirms our expectations relative to the investment process that was described, and if the manager could potentially enhance our client’s returns, meetings are scheduled, usually at the manager’s office.

Based on a positive outcome following a comprehensive due-diligence process, JCS requests a detailed written firm profile from the firm. This begins an ongoing monitoring process which includes follow-up meetings, receipt of quarterly reports and portfolio holdings, and other pertinent data. Any manager who is included among JCS’s custom peer groups is considered a suitable candidate to be included in a manager search. Flexible, opportunistic managers who do not fit neatly into peer groups or benchmark analysis are monitored separately.
